For those of us involved with real cars it was particularly ruffling to note the demise of Mike Salmon. Another of our childhood heroes gone.
Our Chairman writes:
“When I was n’owt but a lad I lived at Knotty Green, near Beaconsfield. Mike Salmon used to visit a chum who lived near us. In the still of the night, I would hear Mike start his DB4 Zagato, drive down the Penn Road, and through the New Town up to the roundabout at Old Beaconsfield; then his gear changes were evident as he turned left onto the A40 and away past the Bellhouse Hotel towards Gerrards Cross. The A40 is almost 2 miles from Knotty Green – the DB4’s megaphone exhausts were quite loud.”
