Charity Shops & eBay Are Not Always The Answer.

In its first four months since being made available to the general public, the Where To Sell website has seen more than 4,000 users with enquiries ranging from Advertising materials, African artefacts and Amber through 177 categories to Weathervanes, Wines and Woodwork.

The most accessed categories were:

  • Furniture (all)
  • Books
  • Clothes and accessories
  • China

Other trending* items include:

  • Buttons
  • Cameras
  • Cars
  • Chinese art
  • Coins
  • Glass and crystal
  • Jewellery
  • Maps
  • Musical instruments
  • Paintings and Prints
  • Porcelain
  • Records
  • Rugs
  • Silver
  • Stamps

We’re pleased to see such a wide spread of enquiries, and the numbers are steadily increasing.
This confirms our original premise that many people do not know instantly where best to sell their items. It does seem that the local auction house is not necessarily the first choice; some books don’t go to the local charity shop; and eBay is not the only game in town.

* How has “trending” weaselled its way into our vocabulary? Some of us would claim that it is a convenient synonym for “becoming popular” and reflecting the normal development of our language. Others would agree that it is a mutilation of English ( see www.urbandictionary.com/trending ) and another tiresome aspect of Twitter.
